Hello out there, I’m going to attempt do something I have no business doing, starting a blog. I’m not a writer. I have the organizational abilities of a mouse on crack. I’m motivated to start this for a couple of reasons, I went to Rising Tide yesterday and realized my worst fears, the recovery needs some prodding. I learned that the streets are in bad shape EVERYWHERE, the recovery for minorities has been unequal, and RTA is only running at 45% of the routes they ran before Katrina. Our mayor, however, declared the recovery complete. I’m pretty sure he knows what the score is, but, in his attempt to Disneyfiy our city, he won’t let the facts get in the way of trying to take credit for the city’s recovery. My goal is to add my voice to many others to push for change. Change that benefits everyone, not just the sliver by the river. I’m nobody. I believe that if enough nobodies get together and make some noise, we might be heard. It certainly beats reading all about it from social media and blogs like I’ve done for the last ten years. I have no idea how long this will last, I’m not exactly known for consistency in anything but my job. I think there is much to be done, mostly getting the word out on what exactly is going on concerning the move forward.
